What affects the cost
Sedation is not one price for everyone, because no two visits are the same.
The two things that move the number are the length of your appointment and the complexity of the work being done while you are sedated. A short, simple procedure costs less than a long visit where we handle several things at once.
That is the honest reason we always start with a consultation. Before anything is scheduled, we map out exactly what you need, build a clear plan, and put a clear price next to it. You are never asked to commit to a number you have not seen.
One thing that sets us apart: I charge a flat fee for sedation rather than billing you by the fifteen minutes the way most offices do. That means the price does not quietly climb the longer you are in the chair.
A general sense of the range
Most offices bill sedation by the fifteen minutes, so the longer you are in the chair, the higher the bill climbs. I have never liked that. We charge a flat fee instead.

These cover the sedation itself. The cost of the dental treatment done during the visit is separate and depends on your plan. None of these are rigid: if a visit falls just over the line, or a procedure is especially quick, we work out a fee that feels fair.

Insurance & how it can help
Dental insurance is worth understanding here, because it works differently for sedation than for regular treatment.
In plain terms: a plan will sometimes cover part of the procedure being done, but sedation itself is often not covered as its own line item, and whether it is covered at all varies a great deal from plan to plan. Sometimes it is only covered when it is tied to a specific surgical procedure.
We work directly with Select Health and Samera (the SUU and Cache Valley Bank plans) as stand-alone insurance plans.
We also work with Connection Dental, which brings together a number of companies under one network. If you carry a Connection Dental plan, that network includes carriers such as Cigna, Guardian, Ameritas, Mutual of Omaha, Principal, Humana, United Healthcare, Planstin, some Aetna plans, and GEHA. If your coverage is with one of these, it is worth asking us whether your plan comes through Connection Dental.
Either way, you do not have to untangle any of this yourself. We will help you understand exactly what your specific plan covers, and we try to find out ahead of time so nobody is guessing on the day of treatment.

Sedation is priced around the length of the visit, so a longer session may cost more than a short one. But doing several procedures in one sedated visit usually saves you money and time overall, compared with returning and being sedated again and again.
Many plans do not cover it as a separate item, and that is common. We will tell you where you stand ahead of time, and CareCredit financing is available to spread the cost if you need it.
