History

Dr. Boren was born and raised in Cedar City, UT. After serving a mission for the L.D.S. church in Tokyo Japan he married Peggy Rose from Henrieville Utah.  He has spent most of his married life right here in St. George. Dr. Boren attended SUSC (Shows his age! Now it's SUU!) in Cedar City and was accepted into the Utah/Nebraska partnered RDEP dental program. In this program he attended his first year of dental school with the first year med students at the University of Utah, with 10 other select students. He then finished his last 3 years of dental school at Creighton University Dental School in Omaha, NE.

Awards

Dr. Boren graduated #1 in the Clinical  half (treating patients) of dental school and graduated in the top 5 overall. He won several awards including:

- The "Best of the Best" Award in Prosthodontics (Crowns, Bridges, Dentures, etc.)

- The General Dentistry Award for excellence in all aspects of dentistry. (Cosmetic Dentistry, Tooth Colored Fillings, etc.)

- The ICOI Award for excellence in implant dentistry.

In addition he was recognized for "The Best Student Essay" on a dental topic his senior year and was accepted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society as well as other awards. He also was one of two students on the Dean's List his senior year.  He attributes his success to the support of his wonderful wife Peggy.

Post Dental School

After dental school Dr. Boren felt extremely fortunate to work with Dr. Dean Doyle, DDS for a year and a half learning implant dentistry and full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Doyle was a respected leader in, the then emerging field, of implant dentistry. Dr. Boren returned to St. George where he settled down and started his own practice with his family of five children and even served on the board of a national dental magazine his first year. He brought the first full service dental implant practice and the first sleep dentistry practice (IV Sedation for general dentistry) to Southern Utah and is still one of the rare dentists to offer IV sedation for all dental procedures.

Personal

Dr. Boren has a natural talent for working with his hands and believes dentistry to be the "best profession in the world" for him. An undying perfectionist at heart, Dr. Boren loves getting every detail just right. You can hear him around the office saying "Good enough is seldom good...or enough" or "It's all about the details". Dr. Boren has had a job since he was 7-8 yrs old and believes his success has a lot to do with all the varied skills he learned from working in such a wide variety of jobs and duties.

Besides dentistry Dr. Boren has, in his words, "way too many hobbies/interests". He has a passion for woodworking (The love of fine detail strikes again!),  pen making, scuba diving, photography, and all things computers, including web programming and being his own computer tech...just to name a few. He even designed and programed this website! "If it's going to be done right you do it yourself", he says. He's  also an entrepreneur! He invented and developed a product for the craft industry, with his brother, and has 1 proud patent pending. He's also a thankful, and healthy, cancer survivor!
